Bernafas Bebas Racun

Apa yang bikin nafas kita sesak dan udara makin panas? Karbon serta zat kimia beracun lain akibat pembakaran yang tidak sempurna, memang bikin udara yang kita hirup makin nggak sehat. Aktivitas kendaraan bermotor berbahan bakar premium, asap rokok, sampai pemakaian listrik dan plastik yang nggak bijak jadi beberapa faktor penyumbang zat kimia beracun ke udara. Uuugh, kalau nggak dikurangi dari sekarang, hidup kita jadi makin terancam, nih!

Premium adalah bahan bakar bertimbal dimana adalam proses pembakaran yang tidak sempurna, zat kimia beracun ini efeknya lebih berbahaya daripada CO atau Karbon.
Timbal berefek langsung menurunkan daya ingat. Bahkan kalau terlalu sering menghirupnya, bikin kita pusing, sampai hipertensi dan penyakit jantung usia dini, gangguan fungsi ginjal, atua gangguan saraf. Bahkan seiring bertambah usia, bisa menurunkan IQ, lho!

Mesin diesel lebih ramah lingkungan, karena sudah pasti bebas timbal.
Sayangnya yang beredar di Indonesia masih mengandung unsur sulfur yang tinggi, di atas 2500ppm, hampir sama bahayanya dengan timbal. Kadar sulfur tinggi menghasilkan emisi partikulat (PM) dan nitrogen oksida.
Emisi partikulat bisa menghambat aliran udara pada saluran pernapasan dan aliran oksigen ke jantung.

Kantong plastik itu terbuat dari polyethylene yang berasal dari produk minyak dan dapat menghasilkan polusi udara serta konsumsi energi berlebih. Pembakaran sampah plastik akibat pemakaiannya dapat menghasilkan emisi gas beracun berupa CO2 dan Methane, gas penyebab utama global warming. Dan butuh setidaknya 500-1000 tahun untuk menhancurkan polyethylene bags!

Satu pohon seusia 10 tahunan telah menyerap karbon yang dikeluarkan oleh family van selama setahun dengan jarak tempuh sekitar 25.000 km. Uniknya, jika pohon tersebut ditebang dan dibakar, kandungan karbon yang lepas ke langit adalah sebesar jumlah karbon yang dikeluarkan oleh mobil tersebut selama 15 tahun atau jarak tempuh sejauh hampir 400 ribu kilometer! Jadi, dengan menanam satu pohon perindang, atau setidaknya bunga, berarti kita sudah mengurangi emisi gas buang untuk satu mobil dalam sepuluh tahun kedepan.
